From somewhere in the North Sea (I had to ask.)

Not a great deal to report today.   We are traveling between Dublin and Southampton today on very smooth seas.   Barry's Liberation Theology class met today and it was the first day for student presentations.   Two groups made presentations on the first five chapters of Gustavo Gutierrez's A Theology of Liberation.   One group had not looked at the instructions for class presentations, so it didn't turn out too good.  But also, it made Barry aware again that this material is not easy for undergraduates to wade through.  Still, they worked hard (despite two days in Dublin!) and made a genuine effort to get their heads around what Gutierrez means by "theology" and "liberation.

Tomorrow morning we dock in Southampton and Barry will lead an excursion called "The Spires of Winchester."  We tour the town and its famous Cathedral before returning to Southampton.   Professor Angus Paddison of the University of Winchester will pick Jayne and I up at the ship in the evening for dinner at a Thai restaurant near the docks.   Angus is professor theology and visited Shenandoah University last year and gave a couple of lectures on political theology.  We will be talking a bit about the possibility of bringing SU students in our Just Faith Christian Leadership Program to the University of Winchester for some kind of learning experience in the next couple of years.

The picture is of the memorial in Dublin to the immigrants who left Ireland because of the potato famine.
